Convert multiple images
Import a batch of images, choose one output format and download all converted files.
What does this template do?
Import a batch of images, choose one output format and download all converted files.
This template converts a series of images to one format without changing their dimensions: PNG to WebP to lighten a website, WebP to JPEG for software that cannot read WebP, or JPEG to PNG for processing without further loss.
Pipeline steps
This template automatically chains 3 steps in the Workspace. You can review every setting before running it.
- 1Import several images
- 2Convert and compress
- 3Download the images
Why the steps come in this order
Conversion happens image by image between importing the collection and the grouped download; no step resizes or crops, so the images stay identical apart from their format and compression.
When should you use this template?
- Convert downloaded WebP files to JPEG for a layout program.
- Turn PNG screenshots into WebP before publishing them.
- Standardise the format of a folder of images before archiving.
Local processing in your browser
When the selected modules support local processing, your files stay on your device while the Pipeline runs.
Settings to check
- Output format: WebP by default, JPEG or PNG.
- Quality: 82 out of 100 by default, used for WebP and JPEG.
- File names: “image-page” prefix to adapt.
Example
- Before
- 25 PNG screenshots of about 900 KB each.
- After
- 25 WebP files with the same dimensions, noticeably lighter.
Limits to know
- The import accepts PNG, JPEG and WebP; other formats such as HEIC are not read.
- Converting to JPEG replaces transparency with a background.
- Going from one lossy format to another lossy format adds degradation.
