Converting gross salary to net pay is more than a unit conversion. The actual result depends on payroll contributions and individual circumstances.
The Bethemesh gross/net salary calculator therefore uses a visible, adjustable overall contribution rate.
Simplified gross/net formulas
Net before income tax = Gross × (1 − rate)
With €3,000 gross and an assumed 22% rate, estimated net is €2,340.
For the reverse calculation:
Gross = Net / (1 − rate)
So €2,500 net at 22% corresponds to about €3,205.13 gross.
Why there is no universal gross/net rate
Payroll deductions vary by employment status, compensation and applicable rules. A general calculator can therefore provide an understandable estimate, not an exact payslip.
Income-tax withholding is also separate: this tool estimates net before income tax.
