A salary increase can be expressed as an amount or a percentage. Knowing both makes compensation offers easier to compare.
The Bethemesh salary increase calculator calculates the new salary, increase amount and corresponding percentage.
Salary increase formulas
New salary = Current salary × (1 + increase / 100)
At €3,000 per month with a 5% raise:
3,000 × 1.05 = €3,150
That is €150 more per month, or €1,800 over twelve months.
To find the percentage between two salaries:
Increase (%) = (New salary − Old salary) / Old salary × 100
Moving from €3,000 to €3,300 is therefore a 10% increase.
Target salary
Entering your current and desired salary is useful when preparing a negotiation because it gives the exact percentage change required.
