How does this tool work?

Convert a date between the Gregorian calendar and the Indian national Saka calendar, a standardized solar calendar used for official civil purposes in India.

Conversion uses the browser’s Intl indian calendar engine to calculate the Saka year, month and day corresponding to a Gregorian date. In the reverse direction, Bethemesh searches for the exact Gregorian day that reproduces the entered Saka values. A Saka year begins with Chaitra, normally on March 22 and on March 21 when the corresponding Gregorian year is a leap year.

Can the result differ from an official source?

Yes. Some traditions, calendar reforms or local conventions use different rules, so an official source should be checked for legal or ceremonial use.
