The file is read locally in the browser through the shared spreadsheet runtime. The first sheet becomes canonical rows and columns, then the table is serialized into the selected text format. Values are escaped for that output format to reduce copy-and-paste errors. This workflow also makes it easy to inspect the resulting structure before copying, downloading, or reusing the data in another tool.
