Testing a content card
Drop one or two sentences into a card to see how lines wrap and how tall the block gets.
Quickly create the amount of placeholder text you need to fill an interface, test a design or prepare a mockup, directly in your browser.
Generate placeholder text to test the layout of a website, an app or a document before the final copy is ready. Choose a number of paragraphs, sentences or words, then check the length actually produced with the word and character counters. The text is created in your browser.
Choose the unit (paragraphs, sentences or words) and a quantity from 1 to 100. Words are drawn at random from a Latin vocabulary of about sixty words taken from the classic passage. A sentence has 8 to 16 words, starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop; a paragraph groups 4 to 6 sentences, and paragraphs are separated by a blank line.
The classic option, on by default, replaces the first sentence with “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.”. In words mode, it puts the first words of this phrase at the start without changing the total: three words give “Lorem ipsum dolor”, ten words give the five words of the phrase followed by five random words. Everything else changes with each generation.
Placeholder text is for testing a layout: block heights, line breaks, paragraph spacing, behaviour on mobile. It reproduces neither the average word length nor the punctuation and special characters of a real language, so also test the design with genuine headings, then replace every placeholder before publishing, including descriptions and alternative text.
Select paragraphs, sentences or words depending on the element to fill.
Enter a number between 1 and 100 and keep or untick the “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” opening.
Generate the text, check the word and character counters, then copy the result.

Generate several paragraphs to check the spacing and reading comfort of an article layout.
Fill the editorial areas before the final copy, without presenting the placeholder as publishable content.
The requested number of words is respected, even below the five words of the phrase.
