Circle diameter
D = c
The largest centered square is kept.

Open the full editorA team photo as a round thumbnail, an avatar, a screenshot with softened corners for a presentation: these shapes take seconds to make. The tool crops the image into a circle or rounds its corners, adds a border in any color if needed, and makes everything outside the shape transparent.
With the "Circle" shape, the tool keeps the largest centered square in the image, then fits a disc inside it. A 1200 × 800 px photo therefore gives a circle 800 px in diameter. To choose which part is kept yourself, first crop the image to a square centered on the face or logo, then apply the circle.
With the "Rounded corners" shape, the image keeps its dimensions and only the corners are softened. Rounding is expressed as a percentage of the shorter side: 5 to 10% gives a subtle corner, 25% a card or button look, and 50% turns a square into a circle and a rectangle into a pill.
The border is drawn inside the shape: the image does not grow, so your layout holds no surprises. Its thickness is also set as a percentage of the shorter side, keeping the same visual proportion whatever the image size.
Around the shape, the cut-off corners are transparent by default and the image is saved as PNG, or WebP if you choose it. If you prefer a solid background, for a printed document for example, turn off transparency and pick a color: that is also what happens automatically with JPEG, a format without transparency.

For a circle, frame a square centered on the subject with the Crop tab.
Circle or rounded corners, rounding, border thickness and color: the preview follows every setting.
Keep the background transparent for a PNG, or choose a background color.
For an image of width W and height H, with c = min(W, H):
D = c
The largest centered square is kept.
r = rounding % × c
Capped at 50%: beyond that, the curves would overlap.
t = border % × c
Drawn inside the shape.
Prepare a round avatar for an email signature, a team page or a forum that does not round images itself.
Soften the corners of screenshots and photos for a more polished look in a slide deck.
Create thumbnails, cards or buttons with rounded corners, ready to drop into a page.
Frame a logo with a border in brand colors for a post or a badge.
The central square is kept; the thin white border makes the face stand out on a dark background.

Rounded card on a light gray backgroundWith half the shorter side as the radius, both ends of the rectangle become semicircles.

Banner with fully rounded endsUpload the photo, open the Frame tab, choose the "Circle" shape, add a border if needed, apply, then download the PNG. To choose which part is kept, first crop a square centered on the subject.
Outside the shape the image is empty by default, and PNG can store that emptiness as transparency. The image then sits cleanly on any background. Turn off transparency to fill the corners with a color.
Around 5% for a subtle corner, 15 to 25% for a card effect, 50% for a circle from a square or a pill from a rectangle. The percentage refers to the shorter side of the image.
No. It is drawn inside the shape, so the dimensions stay those of the original image, or of the square for a circle.
Platforms generally recommend a square of 320 to 800 px. For all-purpose use, a circle of 800 to 1000 px stays sharp everywhere and can be scaled down later.
Yes, but JPEG does not support transparency: the corners will be filled with white or the background color you chose. To keep transparent corners, export as PNG or WebP.
Yes. The cropping, rounding and border are computed in your browser; the photo is never uploaded to a server.
