How does this tool work?

Turn tables in a PDF into an editable Excel workbook without retyping each cell. This converter is intended for documents with selectable text and consistently aligned columns, such as inventories, product lists and reports. Processing takes place in your browser. Select relevant pages in the shared grid and leave out covers or unrelated appendices before exporting.

The shared PDF document engine looks for consecutive rows with recurring column positions. Each reliably detected table becomes a separate sheet named after its page and table number. Scattered text on a page is not automatically treated as a table.

All cells are stored as literal text. This preserves identifiers such as 00124, repeated headings and values beginning with an equals sign. Original formulas, macros and date types cannot be recovered from their printed appearance. Convert numerical columns deliberately in Excel or LibreOffice, using the appropriate decimal separators.

The workbook is not a replica of the PDF page. Colours, borders, merged cells and complex layouts may be lost. Tables continuing across pages can produce several sheets. Compare column alignment, first and last rows and totals with the original before doing calculations.

Import the PDF and wait for the page thumbnails.

  2. Choose the pages

Select the pages containing the required tables; undo a selection change if needed.

  3. Download the workbook

Use cases

Inventory received as PDF

Bring an inventory or stock report that a supplier only sends as a PDF into a spreadsheet.

Data cleaning

Recover report rows so you can filter, deduplicate or recalculate them with the data tools.

Price list comparison

Put several price lists on separate sheets to compare references and amounts.

Examples

A reference table

Quantities are also text; convert their column before summing it.

Input

One page headed Reference and Quantity, followed by 00124 / 8 and 00125 / 12.

Result

Sheet P1-T1 contains three rows and two columns, with the identifiers stored as text.

Tips and best practices

  • Try a small representative page selection before a long document.
  • Use the original spreadsheet whenever it is available.
  • For a scan, run OCR first; text recognition still does not guarantee accurate table detection.

Frequently asked questions

Can this read scanned pages directly?

No. It reads an existing text layer. OCR is separate, and complex tables may remain difficult to detect afterwards.

Why are there several sheets?

Each detected table is independent. The converter does not assume that tables on different pages have matching columns.

Why are numbers exported as text?

This avoids silently changing identifiers, ambiguous dates or localized decimals. You can choose the intended column types in your spreadsheet.

What if no table is detected?

Check that the PDF has selectable text and regular columns. TXT can recover readable text, but cannot guarantee reconstruction of a table.
