How does this tool work?
This calculator estimates the Portuguese nota de candidatura on a 0–200 scale. Course-specific weights are editable while the tool checks the general DGES limits.
The application grade is a weighted average out of 200: the secondary-school grade weighs at least 40%, the entrance exams (provas de ingresso) at least 45%, and an optional ranking prerequisite at most 15%. Each institution sets its own weights within these limits for each course.
Enter the grades out of 200 and the weights set by the course: the tool checks that the weights add up to 100% and respect the limits, then works out the grade rounded to one decimal, as in the national access competition.

Is the formula the same for every course?
No. Each institution/course publishes its own weights within the DGES limits.
What scale is used?
The application grade is expressed from 0 to 200.
Can I enter multiple entrance exams?
Yes, up to three with separate weights.
What is the minimum entrance exam score?
Each institution sets a minimum, usually 95 or 100 out of 200, for each entrance exam and for the application grade. Below it, the application is not ranked, even if the weighted grade is high enough.
How do I convert the secondary-school average to 200?
The secondary-school average, calculated out of 20, is multiplied by 10: an average of 15.4 becomes 154 on the 0–200 scale used for applications.
Where can I find the weights for my course?
They are published for each course in the DGES (Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior) course index, with the required entrance exams and minimum scores.
