How does this tool work?
This simulator applies the official French Baccalauréat rules for the 2027 session. It supports the general and technological pathways, the new anticipatory mathematics exam, continuous assessment, final exams and optional subjects. Unknown grades can be left blank so the calculator can show the average still required on the remaining coefficients.
Each grade out of 20 is multiplied by its official 2027 coefficient: continuous assessment (40% of the total), the early French and mathematics exams, then the final exams (two specialities worth 16 each, philosophy and the Grand oral). The points are divided by the sum of coefficients, 100 without options. Each option adds a coefficient of 2 per year taken.
While grades are missing, the tool shows the average of the grades already entered and works out, for 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18, the average still needed on the remaining exams. Once everything is filled in, it shows a pass, the second group (resit) or the honours level.

Tips and best practices
- Leave an unknown grade blank rather than entering zero.
- Optional subjects increase the total coefficient; they are not handled as a simple bonus above 10.
- For continuous assessment, use your official annual averages whenever possible.
Frequently asked questions
Which coefficients are used for the 2027 Bac?
The simulator applies 40 continuous-assessment coefficients and 60 coefficients of final or early exams, 100 mandatory coefficients in all. Optional subjects then add their own coefficients to the total.
What does the 2027 Bac reform change?
From the 2027 session, an early mathematics exam with a coefficient of 2 is added. The Grand oral is worth 8 in the general track and 12 in the technological track, while the overall split stays at 40% continuous assessment and 60% exams.
How are optional subjects counted?
Each yearly average of an optional subject counts with a coefficient of 2. An option taken in both première and terminale therefore adds two rows at coefficient 2, 4 coefficients in all.
Can I use the simulator before I have all my grades?
Yes. Empty fields are treated as grades still unknown. The tool works out your average on the coefficients already entered and the average needed on the remaining ones to reach 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 out of 20.
Which technological series are covered?
The simulator covers the seven technological series of the French Ministry of Education: STMG, ST2S, STI2D, STL, STD2A, STHR and S2TMD. The STAV bac, run by the Ministry of Agriculture, follows a separate framework and is not included.
Does the result replace the jury’s?
No. It is a simulation based on the grades entered and the general calculation rules. The official result remains the one given by the administration and the bac jury.
What average do you need to pass the French bac with honours?
The bac is awarded from 10/20. Between 8 and 10, you sit the second group (resit). Honours start at 12 (assez bien), 14 (bien), 16 (très bien) and 18 (très bien with the jury’s congratulations).
How does the bac resit work?
With an average between 8 and 10, you take two oral resit exams, chosen among the written final-year exams and French. For each, the better of the written and oral grades is kept, then the average is recalculated.
