How does this tool work?

A watermark signs an image and discourages reuse without permission: the photographer's name, a brand logo, a "Confidential" or "Sample" mark on a document. This tool places a text or a logo on an image, at one of nine positions or repeated across the whole surface, with adjustable opacity, size, margin and rotation, without uploading the image.

Choose the Watermark type. With Text, type the text (© Your name for example), its Color, white by default, and keep or remove the Text outline, a black stroke that makes it readable on light and dark backgrounds alike. With Logo, import an image, ideally a transparent PNG.

Set the Position among nine points (bottom right by default), the Opacity from 5 to 100% (35%), the Size from 5 to 60% of the image width (18%), the Margin from 0 to 15% of the shorter side (3%) and the Rotation from −180° to +180°. The preview follows every setting.

Repeat watermark across the image covers the whole surface with a grid of texts or logos, spaced by their size plus two margins: a protection that is harder to crop out. Apply draws the watermark into the image; the download keeps the imported format.

How to use this tool

Watermark size and spacing

Settings are percentages of the image, so the watermark keeps the same proportion whatever the photo's resolution.

Text size

F = max(12, round(W × s ÷ 100))

For a logo, its width is W × s ÷ 100 and its height follows its proportions.

Margin

m = round(min(W, H) × p ÷ 100)

Distance from the edge for corner and side positions.

Discreet signature on a photo

Font size: 3,000 × 5% = 150 px. Margin: min(3,000, 2,000) × 3% = 60 px. At 35% opacity, the signature stays visible without hiding the photo.

Logo repeated over the whole image

Logo width: 1,600 × 15% = 240 px, height 240 × 200 ÷ 500 = 96 px. Margin: 1,200 × 3% = 36 px, hence a step of 240 + 72 = 312 px and 96 + 72 = 168 px.

Tips and best practices

  • A watermark in a corner is easily cropped out: repeat it or place it over an important part of the image if protection matters.
  • Keep the opacity between 25 and 50%: visible enough to deter, light enough to let the image be appreciated.
  • Size is a percentage of the width: for a long text, reduce it so it does not run off the image.
  • Keep a version without the watermark: it is drawn into the pixels and cannot be cleanly removed later.

Can I use my logo?

Yes. Choose Logo and import the image; a PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result.

How do I keep text readable on a light photo?

Keep Text outline on: a black stroke surrounds the white letters and sets them apart from any background.

What does Repeat do?

It covers the whole image with a grid of watermarks, spaced by their size plus two margins, so it cannot be removed with a simple crop.

Does a watermark really protect my photos?

It deters reuse and identifies the author, but a discreet watermark can be retouched. Combine it with a limited resolution for published photos.

Can I apply the same watermark to several images?

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The text or logo is drawn in your browser, and neither the image nor the logo is sent.
