How does this tool work?
Adding text to a PDF lets you write where something is missing: fill in by hand a form that has no fields, add a date and place under a signature, complete an order form, slip in a note such as “Read and approved”. You type your text, click where you want it on the page and adjust it visually, directly in your browser.
Type some text and click on the page to place it; repeat as often as you need, on one or several pages. Each block can be moved, resized and deleted; its width sets the automatic line wrapping. The settings offer three fonts — Helvetica, Times and Courier —, a size from 6 to 96 points (12 by default), bold, italic, underline and a colour.
On download, the text is drawn onto the page with the chosen font. The standard fonts cover Western European languages; for characters they cannot write (Polish, Turkish, Cyrillic, Greek…), the tool automatically embeds the Liberation Sans font. Asian scripts and emoji are not supported.
The added text then becomes part of the page: it is readable and searchable in the resulting file, but it is not a form field that could be corrected later. For a PDF with real fields, Fill a PDF form is better suited.

- Zoom in before placing the text to line it up exactly on a dotted line.
- Courier, a fixed-width font, makes it easier to line up digits in boxes.
- For a handwritten rather than typed signature, use Add a signature to a PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit text already in the PDF?
No. The tool adds text on top of the page. To replace an existing word, cover it first with a shape or redaction, then write in its place.
Which fonts are available?
Helvetica, Times and Courier, in regular, bold, italic or bold italic. These are the PDF format’s standard fonts, readable by every reader.
Do accents and special characters work?
Yes for Western European languages. For Polish, Turkish, Cyrillic or Greek, the Liberation Sans font is embedded automatically. Asian scripts and emoji are not supported.
Will the added text be editable later?
Not in the downloaded file: it is part of the page. Keep the editor open as long as you want to correct it.
Can I add text on several pages?
Yes. Switch pages with the thumbnails and place as many blocks as you need before downloading.
Is my document sent to a server?
No. Typing, placing and writing the text into the PDF all happen in your browser.
